Alchemy Much? The History of Man’s Greatest Secrets! (Video)

“The secrets of Alchemy exist to transform mortals from a state of suffering and ignorance to a state of enlightenment and bliss.” ~ Deepak Chopra

You may or may not know much about Alchemy, either in the classic meaning of the term, or in the modern concept of Alchemy we exist in today. However, for more than 15 years I have personally studied Alchemy, and many other esoteric and arcane sources of  knowledge. And it seems the more I learn, the more I find so many parallels and connections – to our own Self, the world we live in – and the other living entities that share this space with us.

It is true to say that Alchemy is the ‘grandfather’ of today’s modern science and most of it’s disciplines – in fact, the word ‘Chemistry’ shares it’s root back to the same word used in Alchemy. However, there is MUCH MORE of value and interest to explore in Alchemy, and as you explore the world of Alchemy you can quickly come to realize that what you are really exploring is YOURSELF!

 Many Paths, One Goal:

Here is background info regarding both classical archaic alchemy (usually related to transformation of Matter), and the realization of spiritual alchemy (transformation of Self):

Alchemy: is an influential philosophical tradition whose practitioners have, from antiquity, claimed it to be the precursor to profound powers. The defining objectives of alchemy are varied, but historically have typically included one or more of the following goals: the creation of the fabled philosopher’s stone – the ability to transform base metals into the noble metals (gold or silver) – and development of an elixir of life, which would confer youth and longevity.

Alchemy differs significantly from modern science in its inclusion of Hermetic principles and practices related to mythology, magic, religion, and spirituality. It is recognized as a ‘protoscience’, that contributed to the development of modern chemistry and medicine. Alchemists developed a structure of basic laboratory techniques, theory, terminology, and experimental method, some of which are still in use today.

“With or without our knowledge, we are all Alchemists.” ~ Eric Micha’el Leventhal

Modern Alchemy: Due to the complexity and obscurity of alchemical literature, and the 18th century disappearance of remaining alchemical practitioners into the area of chemistry; the general understanding of alchemy has been strongly influenced by several distinct and radically different interpretations. Those focusing on the exoteric, such as historians of science Lawrence Principe and William Newman, have interpreted the ‘decknamen’ (or code words) of alchemy as physical substances. These practitioners have reconstructed physicochemical experiments that they say are described in medieval and early modern texts.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, esoteric alchemists interpret these same decknamen as spiritual, religious, or psychological concepts. Today new interpretations of alchemy are still perpetuated, sometimes merging in concepts from New Age or radical environmentalism movements. Groups like the rosicrucians and freemasons have a continued interest in alchemy and its symbolism.

As Above, So Below:

An enigmatic and critically-riddled aspect of the secrets of Alchemy..which has led to many of Humankind’s greatest minds attempting to unlock the chemical and spiritual transformations promised by the study and coventry of Alchemical pursuits. As above, so below. As without, so within. As here, so there. And, so on.

Watch the Video, and hopefully it will spark you to seek further information..and maybe even propel your personal journey to embrace the secret teachings of Alchemy.

(Author’s Note: I have studied Alchemy and other  esoteric arts for more than 15 years, and would love to answer any questions, or discuss this topic.)
