Arcade Fire & Blondie’s Debbie Harry – “Heart Of Glass” / “Sprawl II” Live At Coachella

The carnival of raga-influenced dance parties that has been Arcade Fire’s tour behind Reflektor took another jovial turn at the first weekend of Coachella, where the band’s already hot set received some extra fire in the form of Debbie Harry. The Blondie frontwoman and eternal badass joined the funky Canadians for a fantastic pairing of her classic “Heart of Glass” with Arcade Fire’s “Sprawl II: Mountains Beyond Mountains”. Regine Chassange and Harry couldn’t sound better or look happier together, and “Heart of Glass” bleeds effortlessly and fantastically into “Sprawl II”, check out the amazingness below:

Both Reflektor and it’s subsequent tour have seen Arcade Fire take a divergent and unexpected path in the direction of the dancehall, and while this move certainly rubbed a few folks the wrong way, overall opinion (and mine) has been overwhelmingly positive. The tour is massive, so check out the listed dates below and go get some funky Haitian/Canadian goodness in your life. Below the tour dates you can check out the end of Arcade Fire’s set this past weekend, when they took their performance of “Wake Up” into the audience and acoustic after having the power cut when they ran out of time. The time constraints were a bit of a problem throughout this year’s festival (Ty Segall, Outkast also had their sets cut short), but here it makes for a genuinely unique experience live music for those involved… and after all the other bullshit at Coachella, things like this are what music festivals (and live music in general) are supposed to be about.
