Check Out The Fabulous, Star-Studded Video For Tweedy’s “Low Key”
Tweedy (Wilco’s Jeff and his son Spencer) released their debut record Sukierae this Tuesday, and the sprawling double album gets its first official video today for album cut “Low Key”, and it’s a fantastic one.
The rather hilarious and Nick Offerman-directed (Parks and Recreation) video features cameos from Michael Shannon, John Hodgman, Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter, Wilco drummer (and Spencer Tweedy’s former drum teacher) Glenn Kotche and his child, Chance The Rapper, Mavis Staples, Steve Albini and probably some other folks I missed. The clip finds Tweedy and son dealing with a record company that has run out of money and is unable to sell Sukierae, forcing the Tweedys to hit the road and try to move the record on their own.
I’ve gotta say, Jeff is really handling the whole “Dad Rock” thing amazing well, and why not when you can make a great record with your son. On Sukierae, Poppa Tweedy played all the instruments minus the drums, where son Spencer manned the kit, and the band is on the road now touring the record. Check out the list of upcoming dates below, as well as an amazing solo performance by Jeff of Wilco’s “Sunken Treasure”.
