Elder Scrolls Online: Beta Reaches 5 Million!
“That’s a wonderfully large number of people who have become part of our ESO community, and it continues to grow.” ~ Producer
Elder Scrolls Online Beta has reached 5 million users. Bethesda announced on Twitter: “We’re thrilled that 5 million people have signed up for the #ESO beta! Thanks, everyone! Our last scale test event is going on now. Join us!”
Massive and Multiplayer!
Elder Scrolls Online, the MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) – tells a story where 3 different armies take up arms against the empire and you have to choose where your loyalty lies – dictating the path you walk. In the game there’ll be 9 races to pick from, each with their own special perks, such as: Dunmer, Altmer and Orcs.
Matt Firor, Producer of Elder Scrolls Online – took some time to talk with the gaming community on their website blog, and said:
“I want to take a moment to let everyone know what we’ve been doing since my last update and talk about what we’re planning in preparation for launch and beyond.”
He also goes on to make a comment about the recent news of the beta, and says:
“The worldwide interest in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) has led us to conduct a series of massive ‘scale’ or ‘stress’ betas to prepare for the numbers of players we will have at launch.”
After surveying the Beta players and receiving far too many complaints about it being “too constrained” for the first 10 levels, they’ve been adjusting it. The creators originally had that in mind so as not to overwhelm the Beta players, but they are now saying: “ESO is about choice” – and have decided to fix it up.
Tweaking The System!
They decided to look at the combat system, another piece of the game that was highly commented on. They wanted to make it more “substantial”, whereas you would be no longer able to run through NPCs while in combat – much like you could in previous games. They feel it will make melee combat more “visceral and exciting”, as you’ll now be fighting a solid object.
They’re still doing pre-launch adjustments but will soon unveil post launch content. The first will be the adventure zone, ‘Craglorn’ which is dedicated to group-based, end-game PvE repeatable content.
Elder Scrolls Online is set to come out April 4th, 2014 on the PS4, Xbox one, PC and Mac.
