Human Barbie Doll – Strikes Again!
“I’m hoping it’s the final stage before I can subsist on air and light alone.” ~ Valeria Lukyanova
It seems that Valeria Lukyanova, this ‘human Barbie doll‘, just can’t get enough media attention and every time she thinks we have forgotten about her, she does or says something else to get her back to center stage. This time, the poor girl seems to be convinced that she’s a plant – she has plans to live only off of air and sunlight. While that’s definitely a way to ensure that she keeps that teeny tiny waist she has, it’s also certainly a concrete reason for someone to check her into an asylum.
Sadly, she’s not the first person to adopt this lifestyle.
“Breatharianism” is a real thing – The idea that a human being can subsist solely on air and sunlight and no longer needs food and water to survive.
There are multiple books on the subject, and a few people that swear they’re able to survive on just about nothing (though almost every one of them has been caught with food at one time or another). It’s supposed to be more of a spiritual thing, and the Ukrainian model has been known to be of a spiritual mind, but that doesn’t make it any better in my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m plenty spiritual – I do yoga, I meditate, I read all kinds of books in regards to becoming one with my spiritual guru – but not once have I ever thought about giving up food; I like food entirely too much to even think about it. Also, I’m a logical person, and I know that no matter how “one” I become with my spiritual guru, I’m not going to be able to stop eating and drinking without dying.
Apparently, not everyone is as logical as I am, because many people have starved to death trying to adopt this lifestyle.
Lukyanova is currently a vegetarian that lives off of a liquid diet. She has an 18” waist and weighs only 93lbs. “In recent weeks I have not been hungry at all. I’m hoping it’s the final stage before I can subsist on air and light alone,” she says. While it’s certainly an “out there” statement, it’s definitely not the first strange thing she’s said. She’s claimed that she’s from another planet and says that she has had out-of-body experiences and is able to time travel. VICE Magazine even ran a story on her last year and stated that, “Most of the world doesn’t know is that Valeria is not a real girl at all, but a time-travelling spiritual guru whose purpose is to save the world from the clutches of superficiality and negative energy.”
Regardless of what she thinks she is, she needs to face facts – she’s got a heartbeat and a stomach and she needs food and water to survive. I just hope that someone gets her some help before she starves to death..
