Shovels & Rope Announce New Album, Share Video For “The Devil Is All Around”


Charleston, SC husband and wife duo Shovels & Rope recently announced the details of their sophmore record entitled Swimmin Time, out August 26th on Dual Tone Records. Carrie Anne Hearst and husband Micheal Trent recorded Swimmin Time at their home studio in Charleston, and if lead single “The Devil Is All Around” is any indication, the record will feature more of the band’s infectiously foot stompin’ brand of roots music. The couple, who have been compared to a “rockabilly Johnny and June Cash”, caught lighting in a bottle with their fantastic 2012 debut O Be Joyful and toured massively behind the impressive record. Shovels & Rope show no signs of slowing down as they have already announced the initial leg of the Swimmin Time tour, with more dates coming down the pipe.
