Song Premiere: Dog Society – “Dear Brother”
New York City’s Dog Society recently self-released their third record In The Shade, a melding of pop rock sensibilities with several nods to the 90’s rock sound of the likes of Jane’s Addiction and Stone Temple Pilots (whom Dog Society has toured with). The band entered FLUX studios in NYC planning to record an EP followup to their 2013 effort Emerge, but once the band hit the studio with co-producers Rob Schnaapf and Tom Rothrock (Beck, Elliot Smith), the creative juices started flowing and a full length LP materialized. Today we’re premiering the infectious and guitar-driven “Dear Brother”, check it out below:
What’s rather intriguing about Emerge and In The Shade is that both records materialized after a twenty (!) year hiatus the band took following their 1993 major label debut Test Your Own Eyes. That right there is dedication folks. Bassist Rich Geurzon had this to say about the time off, “The break was just life taking us on different journeys. I knew we would cross paths again someday. Why shouldn’t we? We shared an experience of making music together that we will always cherish.”
