Sony Unveils New VR Project Morpheus
Sony had some big news to release the other day at the Game Developers Conference (GDC). They unveiled their new Project Morpheus; a new virtual reality headset, set release for the Playstation 4.
The new Project Morpheus, which will be competing against the Oculus Rift and what is rumored to come from Microsoft, will come with:
90 degrees field of view
Accelerometer and gyroscope sensors (tracks your head orientation and movement)
3D audio technology
Supports Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller & Playstation Move
It also works if you wear glasses
Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) had said “Nothing elevates the level of immersion better than VR” during the GDC panel for the Project Morpheus. He had also had remarked on his belief that VR is on its way the becoming the “preferred medium” but this all depends on how easy it is to use.
If you head on down to Sony’s GDC booth you can try it out with playable demos of both Thief and EVE Valkyrie.
