Truebrews Pt 2: Moon Man
New Glarus Brewing Co, New Glarus, WI
Abv: 5.0% | Price: $4/pint | No Coast Pale Ale
After scouring the liquor stores, grocery aisles and after reviewing a myriad of beers we’ve never had before, we decided it was time to try our hand at one of our old favorites – Moon Man.
If you’ve never heard of Moon Man, Spotted Cow, or even New Glarus, WI, chances are you’re missing out. New Glarus Brewing Co. isn’t just another Sconnie microbrewery, it is the Wisconsin microbrewery. Their Spotted Cow Ale is literally on tap at every tavern and restaurant that serves draft beer. Unfortunately for the other 49 United States, New Glarus beers are only sold in Wisconsin.
Every review we do we strive to be as objective and unbiased as possible, but Moon Man is our hands down favorite beer and it took every ounce of scientific integrity to not give it a perfect score. So with the scientific method at the forefront of our minds, we settled into our favorite pub and ordered a pint. Despite our best efforts, Moon Man still rocked our socks off. It pours a beautiful golden yellow with a thick finger of head and its aroma slaps you right in the smellbox with a bouquet of citrus and floral hops. The carbonation comes alive on your tongue and opens for a medley of citrus, grapefruit, malt and more citrus. Finally, the citrus gives way to a tangy bitterness that finishes smooth enough for many rounds to follow. A true session ale.
